2nd Gen Toyota Aristo

The Toyota Aristo, also known as the Lexus GS, has been a beloved luxury sedan for nearly three decades. After the success of the first generation, the second generation of the Aristo was released in 1997. This model continued the legacy of the first generation and added some notable improvements.

Design-wise, the second generation Aristo looked sharper and more angular, with a wider stance and lower profile. The body was more aerodynamic, and the car was slightly longer, which added more space for passengers. The front end was also redesigned, with larger headlights and a more modern-looking grille.

Under the hood, the Aristo was upgraded to a 4.3-liter, eight-cylinder engine that produced 300 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque. This was a significant increase in power from the first generation, and it made the Aristo more of a performance car than its predecessor. The engine was paired with a five-speed automatic transmission, which provided smooth and responsive shifts.

The second generation Aristo also featured some impressive technological advancements. It was one of the first cars to feature adaptive cruise control, which allowed the car to automatically adjust its speed based on the distance to the vehicle in front. It also had active suspension, which adjusted to road conditions to provide a smooth and stable ride. In addition, the car had a touchscreen display for controlling the climate, audio, and navigation systems.

One of the most significant improvements with the second generation Aristo was its handling. Toyota significantly improved the car’s suspension and steering, which made it feel more nimble and agile on the road. It was also more stable at high speeds, which made it a more comfortable car to drive on long distances.

Overall, the second generation Toyota Aristo was a significant improvement over the first generation. It was a luxury sedan that offered performance, comfort, and advanced technology. The Aristo continued to compete with other luxury cars like the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class, and it remained a popular choice for consumers who wanted a reliable and stylish vehicle.
